Aatish: Feel the Fire (1994)

Aatish: Feel the Fire (1994) is a high-octane Bollywood action crime drama that serves as the directorial debut of Sanjay Gupta. The film is heavily inspired by the Hong Kong action classic A Better Tomorrow and the iconic Indian film Deewaar, blending “Gun-Fu” style action with traditional themes of brotherhood and sacrifice.

The Plot

The story revolves around two brothers, Baba and Avinash, who grow up in poverty after their widowed mother is forced to work as a housemaid. When an early tragedy threatens the family, Baba takes a dark path into the criminal underworld to provide for his younger brother, ensuring Avinash has the education and future he deserves.

Accompanied by his loyal friend Nawab, Baba becomes a feared hitman working for a crime syndicate. Years later, Avinash returns from the police academy as a decorated inspector, only to be tasked with cleaning up the city’s crime—putting him on a direct collision course with his own brother. As rival gangs spark a bloody turf war, the two brothers must decide where their true loyalties lie: with the law or with each other.

This film was a massive commercial success and solidified Sanjay Dutt’s image as an anti-hero.
