The Night Stalker (1972)

Before he became a household name in the cult classic series, Carl Kolchak made his debut in this groundbreaking made-for-TV movie that shattered viewership records and redefined the urban fantasy-horror genre.

The Premise

The story follows Carl Kolchak, a sharp-tongued, cynical, and fashion-challenged investigative reporter for a Las Vegas newspaper. When a series of bizarre murders plagues the Las Vegas Strip—each victim drained of blood—the police are baffled and the city officials are desperate to keep the grisly details quiet to protect tourism.

Kolchak, however, isn’t interested in the official narrative. As he follows the trail of “The Night Stalker,” he begins to piece together a terrifying and seemingly impossible theory: the killer isn’t a man at all, but a modern-day vampire. Armed with his camera, a tape recorder, and a stubborn refusal to back down, Kolchak must navigate a web of bureaucratic cover-ups and supernatural shadows to find the truth before he becomes the next headline.
